Because they were rarely produced for export before the 1930s, large Bakhtiari rugs offer lanolin-rich, extremely durable wool and luminous colors, which were procured through a thorough knowledge of dyeing, using natural vegetable dyes. Bakhtiari rugs typically feature a multi-segmented field with an exquisite range of colors and motifs, though all-over fields are found on occasion.
